Eng. Muhannad bin Mubarak bin Jumaa Al Araimi, Project Director at the Ministry, explained that the project includes rehabilitating the existing dual carriageway (two lanes in each direction), as well as improving the road width and shoulders. The works extend from Al Hazm, passing through Al Shibaykah and Al Masfah, and reaching Al Wushayl, contributing to shorter travel distances and smoother traffic flow between the villages and the wilayat centre. He noted that the project also includes the construction of two tunnels in Al Shibaykah and Al Masfah.

Eng. Al Araimi added that the design and implementation period is 19 months, in addition to 60 days allocated for preparations, bringing the total duration to 570 days. He confirmed that the road will be suitable for use under all weather conditions.

He further emphasized that the project will help reduce accidents at hazardous intersections in the Al Shibaykah and Al Masfah areas, enhance economic activity, support social development in the region, improve road safety, and strengthen the existing road network. Eng. Al Araimi also pointed out that the project forms part of the Ministry’s ongoing plan to develop and upgrade the road network across the Sultanate of Oman. He stressed that it represents a significant addition to South Al Batinah’s infrastructure, enhancing connectivity between the Wilayat of Al Musannah and the Wilayat of Rustaq, and facilitating residents’ access to vital services and facilities.
