Engineer Mohammed bin Saif Al Mahmoudi, Engineering Business Developer, stated that the project includes the design and construction of Aqabat Afri Road, extending 3.2 km, linking the wilayats of Samail and Izki, and connecting Sultan Thuwaini bin Said Road to Wadi Mahram Road. He noted that this road is a vital strategic link, connecting the villages of Wadi Mahram to the center of Samail, significantly reducing travel distance and improving traffic flow between villages and wilayat centers.

Engineer Al Mahmoudi added that the project also includes the construction of Al-Saqari Village Road in the Wilayat of Samail, with a total length of 3.0 km, connecting Al-Saqari Village to the existing asphalt road of Wadi Andam. The project is being implemented to high engineering standards, with a two-lane carriageway measuring 3.5 meters per lane, asphalt shoulders of 1.5 meters, and gravel shoulders of 1.0 meter on each side.

He further explained that the project includes the construction of rainwater drainage systems, floodwater crossings, and wadi culverts to ensure uninterrupted traffic under all weather conditions. It also comprises the installation of traffic safety features such as metal and concrete barriers, directional signage, road markings, as well as the relocation and protection of utility lines intersecting with the road alignment.

Concluding his remarks, Engineer Al Mahmoudi emphasized that this project comes within the Ministry’s ongoing plan to develop and enhance the efficiency of the road network across the Sultanate. He noted that the project represents a significant addition to the infrastructure of Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, contributing to improved traffic movement between the wilayats of Samail and Izki and facilitating residents’ access to essential services and facilities. This aligns with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040 to develop sustainable transport infrastructure and reinforce regional connectivity.
