Workshop Discusses Development of Green Port Corridors among GCC Countries

The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology organised a workshop on green port corridors among the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries as part of the activities accompanying the Gulf Green Mobility Forum. The workshop brought together experts and representatives from GCC countries to discuss ways to establish and develop green corridors and enhance integration between ports and modes of transport, in support of the sustainability of the logistics sector and greater efficiency.
The workshop aimed to follow up on efforts and initiatives related to green corridors, exchange expertise and experiences among the relevant entities, and discuss opportunities to develop sustainable solutions for ports, maritime transport and supply chains, contributing to reducing carbon emissions and enhancing the efficiency of transport operations and logistics services among GCC countries.
Participants discussed a number of topics related to the establishment and development of green port corridors, including following up on the outcomes of the previous workshop and reviewing the progress achieved, as well as discussing the challenges and opportunities associated with implementing sustainable practices and technologies in port operations and related maritime transport.
The workshop also addressed the importance of integration between ports and different modes of transport, and coordinating efforts among the relevant entities to develop more efficient and sustainable transport routes. It also covered the exchange of successful experiences and practices in reducing emissions and improving the efficiency of logistics operations, as well as joint efforts to develop solutions and initiatives that support the transition towards a greener and more efficient transport sector.
The workshop concluded by emphasizing the importance of building on the outcomes of previous meetings and efforts, and continuing joint work among the relevant entities, contributing to the development of practical green corridor initiatives, supporting the transition towards a more sustainable and efficient transport sector, and enhancing the readiness of the ecosystem to meet future requirements.
