The Sultanate of Oman has crowned its efforts to develop the postal sector by securing first place regionally for the second consecutive year and receiving the “Regional Pioneer Award” in the 2026 Postal Development Index issued by the Universal Postal Union (UPU). This achievement reflects the progress made in the sector and the ongoing efforts to enhance the efficiency of postal services and expand their reach. The achievement coincides with the Sultanate of Oman’s celebration of World Post Day, represented by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology. This year’s celebration is held under the theme “One Postal Network, Countless Possibilities”, highlighting the developments and achievements that have strengthened the position of Oman’s postal sector at both regional and international levels.

Oman’s postal service network has seen growth in the number of post offices and access points, with the total rising from 610 in 2024 to 704 in 2025. This expansion has improved the availability of postal services and access for various segments of society across the governorates. Muscat Governorate recorded the highest number of access points at 107, followed by Dhofar Governorate with 50 and North Al Batinah Governorate with 39. The domestic express mail sector also recorded a 26% increase in 2025, handling more than 4.38 million postal items. In addition, more than 3 million incoming international postal items were processed, reflecting growing demand for postal services and their role in supporting trade and logistics activities.
