Major Efforts Underway to Mitigate the Potential Environmental Impacts of the Grounded Vessel near the Al Hallaniyat Islands

The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology and the Environment Authority stated that, in cooperation with the relevant government entities, they are responding to the incident involving the grounded vessel CAROLINE BEZENGI near the Al Hallaniyat Islands in Dhofar Governorate to mitigate any potential environmental impacts.

The Ministry and the Authority affirmed in a joint statement that all specialised technical teams continue to monitor developments and implement the necessary measures in accordance with their respective responsibilities and the approved emergency response plans, with the aim of mitigating any potential impacts on the marine environment and the safety of navigation.

The relevant authorities also continue to monitor the situation through satellite imagery, field survey results, and technical models to track developments and assess any potential environmental impacts. This supports appropriate decision-making based on the latest developments and ongoing technical assessments, in accordance with internationally recognised standards and practices and in compliance with the relevant international laws and conventions.

The Ministry and the Authority reaffirm that any updates will be announced through the official channels. They also urge everyone to obtain information from official sources and refrain from circulating or publishing unverified information, thereby contributing to enhancing public awareness and supporting national efforts.
