Introduction

 

The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology pays attention to the availability of open data, believing in the importance of using raw data and its availability when carrying out the tasks and functions of the Ministry, Starting from planning and ending with outputs, whether it is a service or a tangible product. This approach also comes to allow various segments of Web users to view and benefit from data for research, commercial and other purposes. Accordingly, the Ministry devoted efforts through an internal team to concern about open data enabling and ensuring the sustainability of such practice through the Ministry's website and the official portal of e-government services. It is worth mentioning that this trend is an embodiment of the Sultanate of Oman's interest in data and its importance when working to implement national priorities related to visions such as Oman Vision 2040, strategic plans such as the tenth five-year plan (2021-2025), and executive programs such as the National Program for the Digital Economy (2021-2025).
